As a Shucker New Fellow, you will join 15 years of leadership program alumni who also enhanced their leadership capacity as a Furman student by participating in Furman's select and structured leadership development program.  As a Shucker Fellow, you would have the unique opportunity to: 


  • explore foundations of leadership and pillars of effective team work
  • learn about yourself
  • identify your leadership strengths
  • become more confident as a leader
  • meet other leaders on the Furman campus
  • create your own path for leadership development
  • gain leadership knowledge through experiential opportunities¬†
  • establish meaningful relationships with faculty, staff and peer leaders

Application
  • Online application due August 15, 2014. Individual and group interviews will be held during the first week of school.
  • Recommendation letter required
New Fellow Meetings
  • Fall Term - Weekly for 1.5 hours - leadership development, discovery of passions, StrengthsQuest
  • Spring Term - Bi-monthly for 1.5 hours - workshops, simulations, Shucker sponsored events
Retreats
  • New Fellows Retreat

Community Service
  • Junior Achievement (teach in local elementary school, fall)
  • Fall Fest
  • Heller Valentine's Dance
  • New Fellows class service project

Passion Projects

  • Collaborate with other fellows to develop a project about which you feel passionate. Projects engage the Furman community, and are implemented in the sophomore year.
