Health Services information

The Earle Infirmary is a 5,000 sq. ft. facility with a clinic area consisting of a large reception area, four examining rooms, a lab and a doctor/nurse work station. Each day the health center staff provides care to an average of 65 students, most of whom have acute, short-term health problems. In addition, individuals with chronic diseases such as diabetes or other chronic problems may receive care. Physical therapy and other types of musculoskeletal treatments are available through the Sports Medicine Center. Referrals can be made to Counseling Services, Nutrition Services, and specialty services in the Greenville area.

When necessary, students are referred to hospitals and specialty physicians in this area or physicians of choice in their home towns. Student Health Services physicians collaborate with private physicians to coordinate the best possible care of patients. Our health education program deals with a variety of health-related topics. We provide presentations and group discussions, as well as one-on-one counseling, focusing on health issues of importance to the Furman student body.
