Physicians hold regular office ours in the Student Health Center (see
Hours of Operation),
and are provided for the maximum benefit of our student body. Student
Health Services is affiliated with the Greenville Hospital System
Medical Education Department, having third year residents in Pediatrics,
Young Adults and Internal Medicine rotate through our facility.
Women’s clinic

The
Women’s Clinic provides education about women’s health issues and
routine gynecological care, including annual pap smear. It is staffed by
one board certified gynecologist and a nurse practitioner and is held
each Tuesday evening, 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m., by appointment only.
Sports medicine/physical therapy center

Sports
Medicine Center staff are available to assess musculoskeletal problems
and injuries. Sports Medicine Center has two locations. Main center is
located in the Athletics Building across from the baseball stadium. The
other location is in Timmons Arena. Physical Therapy is located in the
main Sports Medicine Center, Athletics Building.
Laboratory services
Governed
by CLIA we perform a limited number of lab tests in our facility
including hematocrit, urinalysis, blood sugar, Mono. test, rapid strept
test, throat culture and urine culture. With physician orders, we are
capable of obtaining blood and urine specimens for more extensive
testing. These specimens are sent by courier to a private lab for
testing.
Pharmacy services
We
hold a drug outlet permit from South Carolina Board of Pharmacy and
allowed only to dispense over the counter type medicines. All
prescription medications must be obtained at a local pharmacy near
campus.
X-Ray services
These
are not available on campus. Students are sent to either the nearby
North Greenville Emergency Room or private radiology office.

Health education

Health education programs offers students information in the following areas:

Alcohol, tobacco, and other substances

HIV, anonymous testing and counseling

Stress management
These
programs, provided on an individual or group basis, are conducted by
members of the health service staff or local health care speakers.
Other information
Flu vaccine is available each fall for a nominal charge.
Allergy
injections are presently administered in our facility on an appointment
basis between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
when physicians are in house.
Appointments:
No appointments are necessary except for allergy injections and the
women's clinic. All visits are handled on a first come first serve
basis, except for emergencies.
Confidentiality: Student medical records are strictly confidential and are not released
without written permission from the patient.
