Engaged Living features the very best aspects of The Furman Advantage
in action. It’s an active, exciting way of understanding how to view a complex world and solve problems. You'll study an interdisciplinary topic and you’ll connect with faculty who share your interest and who will serve as mentors, ensuring you'll have a support system in place as you start your journey along your personalized academic path at Furman. You'll begin to develop a life of purpose that helps you make an impact in your community.
You’ll have your choice between five different academic programs and you’ll take a class each semester with other Engaged Living students who live in your residence hall, so you are all learning together. You’ll be led by faculty through course content and extracurricular activities that are relevant to your area of focus. All classes meet a first-year writing seminar, general education, or elective requirement. Best of all, faculty and staff will be there to help you feel comfortable, encouraged, and supported, ensuring you grow as a student and as a citizen of the world. A listing of Engaged Living programs for 2018-19 will be available in February 2018.
