Hometown: Greenville, S.C.
I know for a fact that I wouldn't be where I am currently without the guidance and encouragement offered by the Engaged Living community.
The Engaged Living program allowed me to instantly connect with some of
Furman's most intentional and passionate students from day one. These relationships have been sustained throughout the entirety of my Furman career. I couldn't
have asked for better friends than those I found in my Engaged Living community.
Through Engaged Living, my world paradigms were shattered and reconstructed
multiple times over, and with the encouragement of my Engaged Living professors
and peers, I discovered and developed my passion for working with the oppressed
and marginalized populations of the world. Without Engaged Living, I couldn't have
established connections that led to internships in both Greenville and abroad. I have
worked with crisis shelters, after school programs, counseling centers, and global
research groups because of a passion that was first planted my freshman year as an
Engaged Living student. I know for a fact that I wouldn't be where I am currently
without the guidance and encouragement offered by the Engaged Living community.
There are a lot of things that I can look back on fondly when reminiscing about my
Furman experience, but I am by far the most thankful for my time spent in Engaged
Living. Engaged Living allowed me to build strong relationships with passionate
classmates, be exposed to parts of the world that I wouldn't have seen if I hadn't participated in the program, and establish a model of intentionality that I now hold as
standard for all of my classes.
