Safety and security
At Furman, you'll find a sense of community. We all live together on a residential campus, and look out for each other. That helps create a safe environment.
Our gated campus is located in one of Greenville's safest areas, and is patrolled by a force of state-certified officers. This unit is separate from, but operates in cooperation with, the Greenville County Sheriff's Department. If you need to report an incident or request an escort, our police officers are available 24 hours a day. You can immediately contact them through one of our emergency call boxes, which are scattered across our residential campus.
In campus-wide emergencies, Furman can connect quickly with its community through its campus alert system. You'll receive our alerts through email as well as text and voice messages. More importantly, our system keeps you in the loop and minimizes misinformation.
An important part of being a part of a college community is fully understanding our rules and expectations. Read more about Furman's policies and procedures.
A big part of campus safety is knowing what do in an emergency. Furman will quickly assess any situation, and begin alerting the campus with instructions and information. Learn more about this system.
