Living at Furman
When you arrive at Furman, the first thing you'll notice is our welcoming environment. Whether you're outgoing or more reserved, you'll make friends easily because we have a way of pulling everyone in. Our students all live together on our residential campus. That helps create a sense of family.
You'll live on our campus during your time at Furman—right
in the center of it all. We have 12 residence halls, ranging from
four-person suites to traditional dormitories. Some of our residence
halls are coed, but men and women live on different floors with separate
bath facilities.
If you're a first-year student, you'll be paired with a roommate in one of
seven freshman residence halls. Our detailed questionnaire helps us
match you with someone who has similar interests, a process that has
proved very successful. Not knowing your roommate may seem intimidating
at first, but it’s a great way to meet new friends and get involved in
new activities. Though you’ll have the option to choose your roommate as
a sophomore, many students end up keeping their same roommate from the
beginning to the end of their academic careers.
At Furman, the liberal arts is the common stream that runs through
everything we do. In fact, even our opportunities for housing have a liberal arts
component. From eco-friendly cabins that teach you about sustainable
living to language houses in which you can immerse yourself in a foreign
culture, your housing reflects who you are and lets you meet people who
share your interests. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in
the Engaged Living program, where you and your hallmates take a class
together, live together, have fun together, and get to know the Furman
community
.
Whether you're living in a residence
hall or taking advantage of one of our residential learning communities, you'll feel at home on our campus. Live with us.
From homemade pizza to sushi, we’ve got it all. Sit down at the dining hall for a leisurely meal, grab a quick bite at the Pala Den or take your food down by the lake. Grab a bite.
