Emergency assistance

Life threatening emergencies

If you or someone you know is in imminent danger and/or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please seek immediate help by contacting or going directly to Furman’s Student Health Services (294-2180), calling Furman’s University Police office (294-2111), or, if off campus, calling 911.

Personal crisis

Crisis situations can result in temporary feelings that seem overwhelming in intensity.  During these times it may be impossible to participate in daily activities (class, study, work, group activities). During normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 5:00), students may call (294-3031) or come to the Counseling Center and request an emergency appointment. After hours and on weekends, students in crisis should seek support from friends and family if possible and if professional assistance is needed, contact Student Health Services,Residence Life supervisory staff or University Police.  These offices will be able to consult with the counselor on call.
