Beverage Cart Attendants, Aramark Dining Services.  Duties: Stocking and keeping accurate inventory of bottled drinks, beer and snacks on the cart, selling those items to Golfers while on the course, weather permitting. Qual: Must be 18 due to beer sales.  Hours: Fridays - Sundays, 10:30 - 4:00 p.m.  Pay: $8 per hour and a free meal per shift.  Contact: Fill out an application in the main office in the Dining Hall (lower level), between Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Student Assistant, Philosophy Department.  Duties: Working with departmental faculty on a variety of projects ranging from researching articles and obtaining them from the library to additional work preparing work for publication.  Other duties include typing and computer work, photocopying, answering the department's phone, department library orders and other miscellaneous errands.  Qual.: Student must be available at least three days a week.  Must have research experience and be comfortable using the Philosopher's Index.  Hours: 1/27- 4/29; 8 to 10 hours per week; ideally, 2:30 - 4:30 four days per week.  Pay: $7.25 per hour.  Contact: Sandi Annone,

Costumed Character and Costumed Character Handler
, Upcountry History Museum -- Furman University (UHMFU).  Duties:  The costumed character and the handler work together to greet and interact with youth and adult visitors in the galleries of the Upcountry History Museum and occasionally off-site.  
Qual. for Costumed Character: Height of 5'8" to 6' and weight of 165 - 185.   Must follow "Guidelines for On-Site Use of Costumed Character", always led by a "Handler" through the galleries, Demonstrates reliability, maturity, and self-motivation at all times, presents oneself in a gentle and easy manner, experience e working with children, interest in theater and acting, comfortable in confined spaces and in a crowd and a non-smoker.

Laundry Truck Attendants for Spring 2014, Furman Garment Care Program.  Duties: Scanning laundry and dry cleaning into our computerized tracking system as students drop off and pick up their laundry.  Registering students for laundry and dry cleaning service, answering the phone and returning messages, keeping the truck clean and organized and being a friendly point of contact for students.  Hours: Based on your schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Pay: $11.00 per hour.  Contact:  Apply at

, The Office of Disability Services provides note taking assistance to students who are registered in the office.  Duties: Take notes for classes that you are attending.  Qual: Must be enrolled in the class and attend on a regular basis, have a GPA of no less than 2.8, have good penmanship or be willing to type the notes outside of class and be able to follow the rules outlined on the Note Taker Information Sheet. A student may be a note taker in more than one class. Hours: Varies; based on the class you are enrolled in.  Pay: $100 per semester; to be paid at the end of the semester. The pay is prorated if the student taking the notes or the student receiving the notes drops the class.  Contact: Come to the Student Employment Office to receive a list of classes that need a note-taker.

On-Campus Tutors
, Academic Assistant Office, lower level of the Library.  Duties: Tutoring Furman students in subject specific areas of study.  All subjects are needed.  There is a high need for Statistics, Computer Science, Math and Chemistry.  Qual: Must complete one semester at Furman University and have a "B" or higher in the class, transfer equivalency or AP credit accepted.  Hours:  Hours are not guaranteed; work is based on need.  Pay: $7.55 per hour.  Contact:

Tutors for the America Reads/America Counts Tutoring Program, area elementary schools and YMCA After-School Programs (80-100 needed).  Duties: Tutoring elementary age students from kindergarten to sixth grade in reading and math.  Qual: Must be dependable.  Will need to follow the dress code for Greenville County Public Schools (shirt/blouse, jeans, and sneakers).  Hours: Flexible, based on your schedule.  Pay: $8.00 to $11.00 per hour based on the program location.  Contact: Please sign up in the Student Employment Office.
