Federal Work-Study Program

Federal Work Study (FWS) is a federally funded program administered by the Student Employment Office.  The program promotes employment to help students meet educational expenses. A student must be approved for financial aid and have a demonstrated financial need to qualify for FWS.  FWS eligible students can either work on campus, or off campus in a non-profit organization. Federal work study students are always given first priority for on campus recruitment.

Students who received work-study as part of their financial aid package will receive an e-mail in mid-August from our office that contains information about the work-study program.  Work-Study and non-work-study jobs will be posted to our website in mid-August.

America Reads & America Counts Tutoring Program

The America Reads and America Counts programs are also part of the FWS program. These programs provide reading and math tutors to elementary aged children and families in the Greenville area.  Students interested in America Reads and/or America Counts should contact the Student Employment Office.

Campus Based Work Program

This program is completely funded by Furman University and is for positions with special requirements. These jobs include lab assistant, teaching assistant, and various other positions where a specific major or specific course are required.

Temp Jobs/Odd Jobs/Babysitting

This program provides students access to on campus temporary jobs, off-campus odd jobs and off/on-campus babysitting jobs.  Students may sign up for these types of jobs in the Student Employment Office. The Student Employment Office will then email the student when a job of this nature becomes available. 

Supervisor Training

Student Employment Office hold a Supervisor Training Workshop during August before school starts.  This workshop provide information and training in many areas, including hiring procedures and employment paperwork completion.

Job Location and Development program (JLD)

This is a non-need based, off-campus employment program open to all students.  Local businesses, agencies, and individuals post part-time and summer jobs with the Student Employment Office through this program.  Students are responsible for contacting employers directly.
