The Furman University Seal

The university seal is reserved for official documents presented on behalf of the university as a whole. These documents include awards, citations, diplomas, certificates and resolutions. Of these, diplomas are handled through the Academic Affairs office. Certificates, citations, awards and resolutions have a university-wide standard and their production is handled through the Marketing and Public Relations department. The seal may not be used in any other application. Appeals for exceptions must be made through the office of the president via Marketing and PR.
University Colors
The official Furman University colors are purple and gray. The standard for these two colors is Pantone Violet and Pantone 425 (gray). Due to its visual dominance, purple is used as an accent and not as the dominant color, in most print environments. This pertains particularly to typographical applications.
Typography
Official fonts for Furman University
Body copy or text:
Bembo regular is the official serif font for Furman University publications. Frutiger light is the official sans-serif font. One or the other font should be used for typesetting body copy in a Furman publication.
Headlines and display type:
The current graphic standard employs Helvetica Bold as the primary headline font; Bembo Regular being used when a serif font would be more appropriate. We have, however, built in more flexibility for poster art and feature article headlines and subheads. These stand-alone pieces often call for a font which reflects the nature of the event or story, so the standard is lifted to allow for this expression.
