Outgoing Personal Mail – This mail is placed in trays and passed directly to the USPS. We do not add postage and do not seal envelopes. Deposit your personal mail in your department mail drop or place it in the drop box for STAMPED mail located adjacent to the Furman Post Office. You do not need to separate domestic and foreign mail. Do not bundle and rubber band stamped mail. Mail is dispatched to the USPS around 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no mail service on Saturday, Sunday, or university holidays.
If you need your mail piece weighed, bring it to the post office. We will tell you how much it costs to mail it. Our Customer Service Window is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
It is against postal regulations for us to use the mail meter leased by Furman University to meter personal mail. This meter is licensed only for processing Furman’s business mail. Please do not send us your personal mail for metering.
We cannot charge your personal Federal Express or UPS packages to your budget center. Personal shipping and mailing fees must be paid in cash or by check.
Incoming Personal Mail – Due to the high volume of business and student mail we handle on a daily basis, we discourage you from having your personal mail and packages delivered to Furman. Please have items sent to your home address. This includes catalogs that are not used for business purposes.
– There is a website for tips on reducing junk mail, email, and phone calls. Furman University neither endorses nor supports this site in any way. It is a list of suggestions for controlling unwanted mail. The site is: www.obviously.com/junkmail/
