Through internships, our students learn to think, research, analyze, communicate, contribute, and gain relevant experience. Internships give our students the chance to learn about the search and application process, learn about different avenues available after Furman, experience organizational culture, gain confidence in their abilities, and use classroom concepts to achieve workplace solutions.
Our office will work with students referred by faculty to talk with them about their interests, skills, and learning objectives and assist them in using Furman’s connections and resources to successfully find and apply for an internship. You'll see in our Annual Internship Report 13-14 that we serve students from all majors.
Whether an internship originates from our office or your department, we can partner with you to ensure that our internships include academic components and projects to meet your department’s requirements.
Students who are pursuing an internship to earn academic credit, will need to get the assigned professor's approval and the professor will then submit a completed individualized instruction approval form to Academic Records. Download the form as a PDF.
