Nominating Committee
Annual Report 2010-2011

The Nominating Committee met a total of two times and conducted much of its business electronically during the 2010-2011 academic year.

Replacement candidates for faculty and student representatives who were, for a variety of reasons, unable to serve during the academic year in the capacities for which they were originally nominated were proposed at the September, November, December, and February faculty meetings.

The primary task of this committee is to nominate faculty officers and to populate faculty standing committees.  To this end, we nominated candidates for the offices of Faculty Chair and Faculty Vice-Chair.  In addition, the committee nominated 122 faculty members for service on 19 faculty standing committees, as well as for slots on the Graduate Council and the Traffic Board.  A total of 28 of these 122 positions were new candidates; the committee also nominated 10 new chairs.

Given that changes in Student Government Association administrations occur late in the Spring term, student nominees for standing faculty committees will be forwarded to the Faculty for their consideration at the September faculty meeting.

The chair would like to commend the members of the committee (Ken Abernethy, Terri Bright, Erin Hahn, Les Hicken, and Cherie Maiden) for their sterling service and support over the course of the year.  He also would like to extend his heartiest congratulations to Erin Hahn, who our group has nominated (by acclamation) to be the Committee’s new leader.  He wishes her the best of luck in the coming year!
