Fringe Benefits and Welfare Committee
Annual Report 2011– 2012



The Fringe Benefits and Welfare Committee met with the Benefits Committee for Renewal Processes, (Jean Adams, Amy Blackwell, Todd Duke, Raymond Kuhne, Pamela Barkett, Giselle Williams,) four times during the 2010-2011 Academic Year. The following summarizes the issues discussed and voting results of those meetings.

Medical Plan:    During the fall, the committee reviewed evidence that premium rate increases were necessary. The committee voted to increase the cost of insurance premiums for Furman employees, changing the university’s percentage of costs for employee insurance premiums to 80%.

The committee met once during the spring to begin the process of comparing bids from various providers. The process is ongoing; Human Resources has been in touch with those providers and is currently compiling information.
