Annual Report, 2007-2008
The Faculty Benefits Committee meet twice this fall with staff representatives to discuss issues related to our annual insurance renewal. We had several hours of discussion regarding rate changes versus changes in co-pays, deductibles and network design. By making modifications in co-pays, deductibles and the network we have been able, with the willingness of the administration to use the “savings’’, to keep rates almost constant for three years in spite of continuing rises in the cost of health care. We are also discussing ways to encourage healthier lifestyles among our employees as this is the most effective way of reducing the increase in future costs.
I would like to thank the committee (both faculty and staff) who have been willing to vote for changes in our coverage that the group feels would be most beneficial to our employees as a whole, even when personally they might benefit from alternative changes.
