Curriculum Committee
Faculty Constitution Description
Article V., Sec. 5, (b) Curriculum. This committee shall study proposals involving addition and deletion of specific courses in the light of Furman's purposes, policies, and curricular goals. The committee shall submit its recommendations to the faculty. One member is to serve concurrently on the Academic Polices Committee.

How to Submit a Course Proposal
- Visit the newly created web-based Course Proposal System.
- Consult with the Collections Development Librarian to ensure appropriate resources are available for the course.
- Notify your department chair that you intend to submit a course proposal.
- Observe the proposal deadlines:
For the Spring 2013 (regular term):
Tuesday, September 4, 2012, so courses can be considered by the September faculty meeting in time for Spring registration (regular).
For May Experience 2013 (on-campus courses):
Tuesday, October 9, 2012, for on-campus courses (to be considered at the October faculty meeting).
For May Experience 2013 (Study Away courses):
Tuesday, January 8, 2013 for travel study courses for which the travel has already been approved (to be considered at the January faculty meeting).
For the Fall 2013 (regular term and Study Away courses):
Tuesday, February 12, 2013, so courses can be considered by the March faculty meeting in time for Fall registration.
For the Fall 2013 (FYS and FYW courses):
Tuesday, March 19, 2013, so courses can be considered by the April faculty meeting.
For the Spring 2014 (FYS, FYW and Study Away courses):
Tuesday, March 19, 2013, so courses can be considered by the April faculty meeting.
Please note that these are firm deadlines. Courses submitted past these deadlines will not be considered before the respective registration periods.
