Curriculum Committee
Annual Report
2011-2012
The Curriculum Committee met six times during the 2011– 2012 academic year and conducted additional business via e-mail. All proposals were submitted via the electronic course proposal system.
During the year, the committee endorsed 93 proposals. Of the total proposals endorsed, 43 were catalog courses, 14 were First Year Seminars, 12 were First Year Writing Seminars, 18 were May Experiences, and 6 were temporary courses (special topics). Lloyd Benson, chair of the May Experience Committee, and Melinda Menzer, chair of the First Year Seminar Committee were extremely helpful in giving careful consideration to relevant courses and communicating concerns with individual proposals.
The chair would also like to thank the following Curriculum Committee members for their time and energy in the work of the Curriculum Committee: Michael Brodeur, Charles DeLancy, Paula Gabbert, Steve Richardson, and Claude Stulting, and Laura Wright. In addition, the student members also provided valuable insight on this committee: Tim Baumann and Matt Correnti. Laura Baker also provided necessary resource information from the library. The chair would also like to thank Brad Barron for his help with the process of endorsing the proposals and answering numerous questions about various curriculum issues.
Respectfully submitted,
George B. Lipscomb,
Chair
