Curriculum Committee
Annual Report, 2008-2009
The Curriculum Committee met nine times during the 2008 – 2009 academic year as well as conducted business via e-mail. All proposals were submitted via the electronic course proposal system.
The committee endorsed 123 proposals, many of which were associated with the new curriculum. Of the total proposals endorsed, 53 were catalog courses, 30 were First Year Seminars, 32 were May Experiences, and eight were temporary courses (special topics). Three courses were deleted from the curriculum. The committee continued revising its operating procedures in response to the new calendar and curriculum. The proposed changes were submitted to the Policies and Procedures Committee.
The chair thanks Curriculum Committee members for their time and thoughtful deliberations committed to work of the Curriculum Committee: Linda Bartlett, John Beckford, Doug Cummins, Savita Nair, Elaine Nocks, Dan Sloughter, and Helen Lee Turner, for all of their hard work and input. In addition, the student members also worked very diligently on this committee: Andrew Barnhill and Jodi Walker. Betty Kelly provided necessary resource information. The members of the committee thank Brad Barron for his help with the process of endorsing the proposals and his time spent on correcting and updating proposals on the course proposal system.
Respectfully submitted,
Shirley A. Ritter
Chair
