Appeals Committee
Annual Report, 2010-2011


The Appeals Committee met ten times during the year, once per month from September 2010 to June 2011.  Fifty-seven appeals of academic regulations were reviewed.  A total of 40 appeals were approved, 15 were denied, one was tabled, and one was rescinded.

Fifteen appeals were related to general education requirements.  Twelve were approved and three were denied.  

Twelve appeals were related to academic suspension.  Seven were approved and five were denied.  

Six appeals were related to foreign language accommodations - all were approved.

Nine appeals were related to the 28-hour rule.  Eight were approved and one was denied.  

Three appeals requested retroactive withdrawal from courses.  One was approved and two were denied.  

Four appeals were related to the 64-hour rule.  One was approved, two were denied, and one was tabled.

Three appeals were related to CLP requirements.  All three were approved.  

One appeal related to transfer credit was denied.

Two appeals were related to dual enrollment – both were approved.

One appeal, related to the math requirement for the B.S. degree, was denied (unanimously) by the Committee, but was overturned by the Academic Dean.

A log of all 2010-11 appeal results has been maintained by the Chairperson of this Committee and by the Associate Academic Dean.
