Annual Report, 2010-2011
The Academic Policies Committee met 6 times this year.
The work of APC during the 2009-2010 year included …
- the consideration of 28 course proposals for various CGA and concentration credits;
- the review of the proposed revisions to Women’s and Gender Studies to “Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies”
and a recommendation to the faculty;
- the review of the Sustainability Science Major and a recommendation to the faculty;
- the review of changes to the HSC major and recommendation to the faculty;
- the review, and in some cases revision, of 7 policies or guidelines to administrators (in consultation with Policies
and Procedures where appropriate);
- the review of CGA questions on the Course Proposal System for clarity and consistency;
- the review of the status of CGA assessment data and analysis (still forthcoming);
- the consideration of instituting minors at Furman – data collected from department and concentration chairs,
admissions, career services (ongoing study).
The chair wishes to express her gratitude and appreciation to committee members for their professionalism, diligence, thoughtfulness and good humor.
