Grief and Pastoral Counseling Furman University

Whether you’re going through a difficult time or you just have questions about life and faith, we’re here to listen. We can act as a sounding board and offer resources to any student, faculty, or staff member. When you come to us, be assured that we'll offer you a space that’s both non-judgmental and confidential.

Pastoral counseling

Do you have a problem or question? We’re here to listen. Students come to us for confession, questions about faith, to talk about losing a loved one, or just looking for a non-judgmental, confidential space to work through their problems. We’re not here to impose any one system of beliefs on you. When you come to us we can pull from any or all beliefs to help counsel you. It’s up to you.

Common reason to come to pastoral care:
  • Losing a loved one
  • Questions about vocation
  • Questions about faith or spirituality
  • Looking for a religious or spiritual group to join

Want to try pastoral care? Contact a chaplain to set up an appointment for pastoral counseling.

Students who have lost loved ones and need some academic support (i.e. may miss class because of a funeral) are encouraged to contact the Academic Dean's office at 864.294.2064.
