Chaplaincy Furman University

Furman's chaplains work with students, faculty, and staff from all and no religious traditions to coordinate spiritual life at Furman. You will find us overseeing religious-specific programs, inter-religious understanding, religious and moral dialogue, and pastoral care and counseling. We also coordinate educational programs on moral, ethical, religious and spiritual issues and lead ecumenical community worship opportunities through the year.

The word chaplain might not be an everyday one for you. Here in the Office of the Chaplain, it's our job--and really, our joy--to help you grow more deeply in your own faith as you ask the questions we all face about life, calling, and what matters most to us. We are here to listen, to learn with you, and to help make the challenging and enlivening connections between your deepest longings and the world's greatest needs.

Spiritual Guidance

For many of you, college may be the first time you're exploring your faith away from home. We're here to act as a sounding board for whatever questions you might have. Maybe you've grown up in one faith but have always been curious about another, or maybe you didn't grow up in a particular faith tradition and want to know how to start the conversation. Maybe you want to talk with someone about how what you've learned from your church, temple, mosque, or synagogue connect with what you're learning in class. Whatever your faith questions might be, we're glad to ask them with you.
