Community Outreach - Lakeview Middle School

Lakeview Middle School is a Title I school and does receive additional funding under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. While these funds can be used for many things, they cannot be used for transportation costs.  Transportation costs for field trips can range from $50 to hundreds of dollars depending on the number of students, and the location.  One of the costlier trips is the 8th grade field trip to the South Carolina State Capital.  Because of the high transportation cost, the students do not always get to take this trip.  This Fall, the Staff Advisory Committee is hoping to collect the funds to send the 8th grade on their field trip.  Any excess funds collected will also be used for field trip transportation.

Donate Funds to send students on field trips

1)      Send 8th Grade to the State Capital

i)        We will be collecting funds until 12/01/2017

ii)      You may send funds through campus mail to the Staff Advisory Treasurer – Cindy Davis (Development).

iii)    If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, you should make your donation at Lakeview Middle School.

If you are unable to donate funds to Lakeview Middle School, please consider donating your time by becoming a mentor.  “The greatest gift you have to offer a young person is your genuine interest in their life and your willingness to listen attentively to them.  Each person brings a wide range of life experiences to the mentoring relationship and can be a wonderful source of advice and information.”

Donate Time by Mentoring a Student

1)      Sign Up at Mentor Upstate -

i)        They provide training and all required paperwork.

ii)     This is a great opportunity for caring adults to come weekly and eat lunch with students and build that relationship.
