Eat Well

A healthy eating initiative between the Department of Health Sciences
and Campus Dining Services

What is Eat Well?

Eat Well is a partnership between Dining Services, the Health Science Department, and Furman students to promote healthy eating on Furman campus.  Healthier options are designated with the “Eat Well” logo above.

Which items are designated as "Eat Well"?

Most foods can fit into a healthy diet. However, some foods are more nutritious than others. Items designated with the Eat Well logo are rich in nutrients, such as complex carbohydrates, unsaturated fats, lean proteins, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Eat Well foods are also lower in calories, fat, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium, and added sugar.

How do I find Eat Well items?

Look for the Eat Well logo on healthier choices in the Dining Hall, PalaDen, Tower Café, and other Campus Dining locations.  To help you plan your meals in advance, Eat Well items will be posted on Student News and Public Announcements each day.  When you enter the dining hall, be sure to check out the list of Eat Well items on the dry erase boards by the cashier stations.

How do I learn more about healthy eating?

Please view the Resources and Recipe Corner on the left hand side of this page. You will find information about healthy eating, easy meal and snack ideas, tips for navigating the supermarket, and dozens of healthy recipes.
