Special Announcement

Like many business organizations and institutions of higher learning, the Division of Continuing Education at Furman is continuously evaluating its products and programs to realign and refocus our efforts into areas where they are needed the most. In recent months, we have taken a long-term assessment of our various offerings and have come to the conclusion that we need to make some changes to Learning for You. For a number of years, Learning for You has seen some select courses flourish, even as many of its class offerings have experienced declining enrollments. Our plan is to dedicate our resources to strengthening those programs which have high interest, and to discontinue programs which have, for various reasons, seen declining participation from the community.  We are planning to continue offering the Piano for Young People, Connections: Women’s Leaders of the Upstate, SCOPES, and our domestic and international travels programs, but under new structures and departments, some within and some outside of Continuing Education.  As a result, fall 2013 will be the last official semester for Learning for You. The programs which have been retained will be represented in the bulletins and websites of other programs on campus.
