Student Computer Configuration

In order for a computer to connect to the Furman University network, it must meet certain software and hardware requirements. You can save yourself some time this Fall by configuring your computer now. Before you begin the process outlined below, make sure that your computer meets our minimum requirements.

These steps will prepare your computer for Bradford Campus Manager registration when you arrive on campus. Read more if you are interested in knowing how Furman protects the network to create a safe computing environment.

THESE QUICK START STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED SO THAT YOUR COMPUTER CAN CONNECT TO THE FURMAN NETWORK!

The Quick Start steps above should work well if your computer is clean of viruses and malware.  If these steps do not result in a quick set up and you have a Windows computer, follow the steps below to manually disinfect your computer and set up the wireless

ITS Video Library - The ITS Video Library has videos demonstrating how to complete operating system updates and configure your computer for the FU wireless network.
     If you are on-campus, these videos are viewable on channels 14 and 15 during orientation.
      If you have trouble completing the certification process or have trouble connecting your computer to the network in your room after completing the certification process, bring your computer to the Multimedia Commons, lower level of Duke Library on Thursday, August 16th, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. or Friday, August 17th, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

      If you bring a laptop to the library for support, you must also bring the power adapter. If you have a tower that's all you need to bring, we'll have the keyboard, mouse, monitor and power cable.

      Information Technology Services staff will be available to assist new students with the certification process on Thursday and Friday of orientation. If you bring your machine to us after August 17, you will have to wait in line with the returning students for support.
