Description

Provides a service to maintain and support infrastructure digital storage assets used to underpin IT and business services.

Service Line

Server Administration

Features
  • Plan, install, configure and test storage infrastructure components and connectivity.

  • Identify storage capacity requirements needed to support services.

  • Identify physical facility requirements needed to operate storage components (i.e. floor space, equipment clearance, electrical, cooling, cabling, weight load.

  • Maintain and manage physical facilities for storage media such as tape libraries.

  • Provide storage requirements to support procurement activities.

  • Decommission storage infrastructure components upon request.

  • Maintain storage components in compliance with supporting vendor requirements.

  • Maintain information about storage topologies and configurations and ensure accuracy and availability to others.

  • Provide consulting services and support for release package testing, installation, deployment and operation.

  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support services for storage infrastructures.

  • Provide consulting and support services to identify storage operational, monitoring and reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate, schedule, implement and test storage tuning activities.

  • Coordinate and schedule repair services with 3rd party vendors for storage devices and validate that expected repairs and patches achieved expected benefits.

  • Label storage media components with identification tags and track media locations, and owners.

  • Plan, design, implement, test, operate and manage storage cache, storage types, channels, network, virtual pool and hierarchical storage configurations.

  • Manage and maintain inventories of spare media and equipment.

  • Provide media replication and validation.

  • Replace damaged storage media.

  • Process and configure storage services per provided requirements for data retention.

  • Reclaim unused storage.

  • Plan, architect and administer storage and tape virtualization solutions for storage assets.

Network Storage is available 24 X 7 X 375 except during planned maintenance and upgrades.

  • Support is provided 8:30 am - 5:00 pm M - F except for campus holidays and shutdowns.

Prerequisites

Key Service Targets

If problem is related to users connecting to storage then problem is to be resolved within 4 hours or escalated to the appropriate vendor.
