Configuration and Asset Management - Data Center
Description

This service provides identification, tracking and control information about service configurations and assets for campus network devices located outside the University data center.  This includes network hardware deployed in administrative and academic buildings, as well as campus residence halls.

Features
  • Plan, design, build, test, implement and maintain configuration and asset control management systems and solutions.
  • Identify and record configuration items used to support services.
  • Identify and record relationships between configuration items to support planning and impact analysis activities.
  • Provide information about configurations and assets to others through a formalized request mechanism.
  • Conduct configuration and asset audit activities to ensure reliability of information.
  • Plan, design, build, test, implement and maintain automated discovery technologies and automated linkages to populate configuration and asset control management systems and repositories.
  • Build and maintain blueprints and models of all services showing their components and relationships.
  • Coordinate activities to dispose of assets upon formalized request.
  • Build, manage and maintain configuration and asset repository logical data schemas and designs.
  • Maintain accurate information about attributes of configurations and assets such as status, location, serial number, description, owners, versions, and relationships to other configuration items.
  • Provide status accounting to validate usage of configurations and assets.
  • Control updates to configuration and asset information through a formalized procedure that is linked with Change Control Services.
  • Build and maintain standards for naming and labeling configuration and asset components.
  • Provide and maintain configuration baselines.
  • Provide requirements and strategies to backup and recover configuration and asset management systems and data in the event of a major business disruption.

Data Center assets are available 24 X 7 X 365 except during planned maintenance and upgrades.
