How Datatel Security Works: Datatel security is driven by "
Security Classes." Each user has many security classes.
Basically, a Security Class is made up of 3 lists of mnemonics:
- Do Only These
- Never Do These
- Privileged
When adding a user to Datatel we must give them their security classes. Since we in ITS have no way of knowing what Datatel screens each individual needs, we have to ask the new user's supervisor which security classes the new user should have. It's rare to find one security class which is perfect for the new user. Most of the time we have to give the new user several security class and sometimes even add new ones.
