REGARDLESS of funding agency requirements, the Furman IRB requires that ALL Furman researchers involved in “human subjects” research must complete the CITI Human Subjects Research Educational Program. To do so, please visit the CITI website at: www.citiprogram.org and register
affiliating with Furman University (please use your legal name and your Furman
email address.) If you have an account through another institution, you may
re-affiliate with Furman and any courses that you have completed will transfer
to Furman’s records.
The IRB will not process an application until the CITI program has been completed by the P.I., Faculty Advisor, and Chair or Administrative Division Head.CITI will send the IRB Administrator notice of your completion. You should print out and save a copy of your completion certificate to be submitted with your application and kept for your own files.
Furman offers three distinct research compliance courses through CITI. The Human Subjects Projections curriculum choices are presented in question 1 when you are selecting your curriculum.
The learern group choices for the Human Subjects research training include:
- Social & Behavioral Research Investigators: Choose this group to satisfy requirements for investigators involved primary in Social and Behavioral research with human subjects.
- IRB Members: This course is required for IRB members and IRB administrators.
- CAUTION: The Responsible Conduct of Research courses do NOT qualify for Human Subjects training.
Once you have completed a course, you will be able to access and complete other modules that may be of interest. You may be asked to complete additional modules by the IRB depending on subject populations or for international research.
If you have a question about this training, please call (x. 3468) or email Brianne Pochard.
