Contribute a picture of an object or an artifact

How to share your story through an artifact:

  1. Take a picture of your artifact on a camera with digital upload.
  2. Follow your device's instructions to upload your photo to a sharing site. Flickr, Photobucket, Facebook, or Instagram (#freedomstoriesproject) will all work.
  3. Send us the link to your photo with a written description describing your artifact. How old is it? Where did it come from? What transition to freedom is it linked to?

Style guidelines for pictures

The best photos will allow our Freedom Stories community a good look at your special artifact.

Try to take your photo in a well-lit, empty place. You may want to take a few pictures to find the best lighting. If there are important details you can't capture from a single angle, take a few photos and submit them all!

When uploading from Instagram, no filter submissions are preferred.

Need more help with photographing your artifact? Bring it along to our upcoming events at the Upcountry History Museum and our on-site photographer will take a picture for you!
