Research Instruction Session Policy
The Music Librarian offers research instruction assistance to individuals as well as to entire classes.
This instruction typically is linked directly to an assignment students will begin working on shortly
after the instruction. It is helpful to allow at least 5 working days between a request for instruction
and the date agreed upon for that instruction. Ideally, faculty will schedule sessions when finalizing
syllabi at the beginning of an academic term.
Additionally, consultations on designing assignments to use library resources are available
and should be scheduled with the Music Librarian. Such assignments might include designing web
pages to communicate results of group research, cultural context research where students search
for photos and other information on the Internet, or more traditional assignments such as annotated
bibliographies and research papers.
