Meet Lena
When you're here, make sure you take advantage of all the opportunities available at Furman. It's easy to get involved in student activities and organizations. And make sure you maintain a good relationship with your professors. They'll help you along the way.
Best of list
A classroom. Sometimes the library becomes a social hub and the classrooms allow you to be by yourself with fewer distractions.
Singing for Furman University's Gospel Ensemble.
The Lazy Goat in downtown Greenville. It's a tapas restaurant so you get smaller portion sizes, but more variety. It's a great place to try different types of food.
Balancing my class schedule with the schedule of my organizations. I created a huge calendar so I can look at the things that are coming up. That way, I can plan everything out. If it wasn't for my big calendar, I don't know what I'd do.
Intro to Rhetoric: I was worried that the class might be boring, but it challenged my views and made me think outside the box. It turned out to be one of the best classes that I've had.
When the seniors jump into the fountains on the last day of class.
Einstein Bros. Bagels. There's so much variety. I love the cinnamon raisin bagels and the blackberry lemonade. That combination together can make a person very happy.
Helpful Tips
Study away from big groups and friends so you don't get distracted.
Put yourself out there, attend different sporting events, and participate in O-week activities.
The brochure doesn't show the great balance that Furman has between being a small school and still having big campus opportunities.
Make sure you get to know the people living around you. It will make your whole experience 10 times better.
