Recreation and sports
Looking for athletic glory? You’ve come to the right place.
Sports are a big deal here. With 20 NCAA Division I teams, 23 club teams, and dozens of intramural squads, it’s easy to find a game on our campus—even if you just want to sit in the stands and root for the home team. Our varsity and club teams have won national championships, and students earn serious campus bragging rights through our competitive intramural leagues. In fact, about two-thirds of our students participate in intramural or club sports, making our recreational sports program one of the most active in the nation.
If you’d prefer to work up a sweat without joining a team, you can stay in shape at the Herman W. Lay Physical Activities Center. It’s always packed with students taking advantage of our first-rate workout space. Take a dip in the pool. Ride a stationary bike. Or join a pickup game on our basketball court.
