Explore Greenville

Greenville is an extension of Furman’s campus, pulsing with activity. You’ll see lots of familiar faces downtown browsing the shops, eating at local restaurants, interning at area businesses, or displaying their talents at open mic nights. Greenville's downtown is especially energetic, burgeoning with art and culture.

There’s no better place to start than Main Street, which has experienced a cultural and economic renaissance, becoming a hot spot for the greater Furman community. You’ll find everything in the heart of the city. Fantastic shops. Cultural events and festivals.  Live music. Even a waterfall at Reedy River Falls Park. And it’s become a destination for foodies, with a range of Southern cuisine, tastes from the Carolina coast, and a variety of ethnic flavors. Once you visit, you’ll understand why Greenville is routinely ranked among America’s best downtowns.

Local businesses are what help keep our city so vibrant, and we’re always making connections with them. It’s our way of expanding our community and helping you find great internships and jobs.

Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Greenville’s outdoors offer you plenty of options for adventure. The Swamp Rabbit Trail snakes through the trees and ponds between our campus and downtown, and Paris Mountain State Park offers fishing, hiking, and boating—10 minutes from your residence hall. Or join a pack of students for a day trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains or a weekend at the beach.

With a population under 700,000, Greenville is small enough to feel like a community and big enough to offer great entertainment. At any moment, you may see Furman students descend on the town and make something sensational happen.  Like the Furman Flash Mob.

It’s no wonder why we love Greenville.
