Engage Furman

Visit Campus

If you're considering Furman—and you wouldn't be here if you weren't—you need to visit the campus.

During your campus visit, you should
  • talk with students and ask about their Furman experience (classes, residence halls, food, recreation, the city of Greenville, and anything else you're curious about!)
  • spend the night in a Furman residence hall (for prospective seniors only)
  • tour the beautiful 750-acre campus
  • get answers to your questions about Furman during a session with an admission counselor or sit in on a class that interests you

Schedule a Visit

Would you like to see Furman? Would you like to take a guided tour of the campus and meet with an admission counselor? Perhaps you would like to sit in on a class or meet with a professor. For high school seniors only, we also offer the opportunity for an overnight visit. We would be happy to make these arrangements for you. (During summer months and at certain times of the year, these special arrangements may not be available. If no options appear when you click the link below and attempt to schedule classes and meetings, none are available. Try selecting another date.)

Please keep in mind that our classes are small and are taught by our professors. If your plans change and you have been scheduled for a class or meeting, please notify us of your cancellation or select "cancel" on your email confirmation. Because of space limitations in the classrooms, we cannot accomodate guests other than the student. Please be prepared to stay for the entire class session.

When is the best time to visit?

Campus visits typically include a 45-minute group information session with an admission counselor, followed by a tour of campus with one of our student ambassadors. Visits will be held from 9:30 –11:30 a.m., and again from 2:30–4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Campus visits begin in the Hartness Welcome Center which is located on the main traffic circle. Campus tours are also available on select Saturdays at 11 a.m.  However, residence halls are not shown on Saturdays. Please check our registration calendar by clicking below to register for these daily visits.

Also, we offer special visitation programs for prospective students listed below:

2010 Visitation Programs:

Spring for Furman—Saturday, April 17, 2010

Tour and Information Session Requests:

Tours and information sessions are immediately confirmed.

If you have requested classes or meetings, details will be confirmed to you by a return email when the arrangements are made.

Please allow four business days notice for class requests and meetings with professors.  We will select a class in the academic area you have chosen, and we will confirm with the professor that there are no tests that day and that class will be held.  We will respond to you with a confirmation of the room number and professor.  PLEASE LIMIT YOUR REQUEST TO ONE CLASS AND/OR MEETING.

Group Visits:

If you would like to bring a group to visit Furman, please contact the Office of Admission by phone at 864.294.2034 or by email to admission@furman.edu. Because of the large number of requests, we limit groups to high school age students. You do not need to register each student individually.

Overnight Requests:

Please allow 10 business days notice for an overnight request. We will attempt to match you with a host and confirm those arrangements back to you.  Overnights are generally available on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights only and are limited to one night.  This option is only available to current high school seniors. If you do have a friend on campus, you are welcome to make those arrangements yourself. (Meal tickets and parking passes are available upon request.)

Please be prepared with an alternate plan to spend the night near campus in case a host cannot be confirmed. A recommended hotel list is posted on our website. There is also a guest apartment available in the Vinings, located at Furman's back gate. For those arrangements, please go to http://www.furman.edu/housing/guest.htm

Overnight visits will be available beginning September 9 for Fall Term and January 20 for Spring Term.

Because we strive to personalize each overnight visit request, please contact the Admission Guest Coordinator, Nancy Griffeth, by email nancy.griffeth@furman.edu or by phone, 864.294.2236.

Athletic Requests:

**Please note that we are not able to schedule meetings with the athletic departments.  If you would like to schedule an appointment, feel free to contact the coach. Each athletic department has a place to enter information for prospective student athletes on their websites. Please provide that information for the coach's benefit.
