Stay Safe & Healthy
Furman is concerned with your
health and safety. Here's how the university makes sure you'll be able
to take advantage of your time at Furman:
A Safe Campus
Furman's gated campus is very safe, and the university is attentive to
lighting needs, off-campus visitors, and other potential safety
concerns. Regulations governing residential life are also written with
safety as a primary emphasis.
University Police
Furman
has its own Public Safety staff. The campus police are here to respond
to calls, maintain the campus lost & found, provide emergency
services, and generally work to keep you safe.
Fitness
Between Furman's fitness center, ropes course, intramural and club
sports, jogging lanes and other activities, you can stay in shape and
have fun doing it.
Infirmary
Furman's infirmary is staffed with board-certified physicians and
nurses skilled in caring for college students. It's open 24 hours a
day, and care is provided free of charge with the exception of a few
lab tests and immunizations.
Counseling Center
Furman's provides counseling to help students deal with stress, eating
disorders, alcohol or substance abuse, and other problems. Appointments
may be scheduled with a licensed clinical psychologist free of charge.
As long as you're safe and healthy, you'll also want to explore off campus when you've got time.
