Furman Exploration of Vocation and Ministry Scholarship

  • $5,000

Any student interested in learning more about or applying for the EVM Scholarship should visit the Chaplaincy home page, referencing the Outreach and Service section. Please contact Maria Swearingen, Assistant Chaplain or Susan Bennett, Administrative Assistant, via email or at 864-294-2133, with specific questions about this scholarship. To submit an application, please apply through our online form. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, but must be submitted no later than September 5th.

Furman Scholars Program

  • $7,500

Students are selected from eligible high schools their junior years, based on grades, standardized test scores, and extracurricular activities. If an admitted applicant is eligible for any Furman scholarship in excess of $7,500, the higher scholarship will be awarded and will replace the Furman Scholars Scholarship.

Legacy Scholarships

  • $10,000

Renewable scholarships awarded to students who have indicated on the application supplement that a parent or grandparent attended Furman University. If an admitted applicant is eligible for any Furman scholarship in excess of the amount of the Legacy Scholarship, the higher scholarship will be awarded and will replace the Legacy Scholarship (effective with Fall 2015 entering class).

National Merit Scholarships

  • Up to $2,000

National Merit/National Achievement finalists who indicate Furman as their first-choice college may be eligible for a renewable university-sponsored scholarship, in accordance with National Merit Scholarship Corporation guidelines. Students who demonstrate financial need may receive $2,000 in a renewable university-sponsored scholarship, and students who do not demonstrate financial need may receive a $1,000 renewable university-sponsored scholarship.  This university-sponsored scholarship is awarded in addition to any other Furman scholarship or grant for which the student may be eligible. 

Palmetto Fellows

  • Varies, with Furman guaranteeing at least $7,000 in scholarships and/or grants

Academic scholarships for residents of South Carolina, based on annual guidelines, which are currently a 3.50 grade point average, 1200 SAT or 27 ACT, rank in top six percent of the class, or 1400 combined SAT score and a high school grade point average of 4.00 or greater. Eligible candidates apply through their high school guidance offices in the fall of their senior years. South Carolina students may receive either the Palmetto Fellows, South Carolina LIFE, or the Hope Scholarship. Scholarship amounts may vary depending upon decisions by the South Carolina Legislature. If you are a Palmetto Fellows recipient, Furman will award at least $7,000 in scholarships and/or grants. This funding may include any combination of Furman scholarship or grant money, including music, athletic, departmental or other merit or talent-based awards.  Palmetto Fellows recipients may also be eligible to receive a South Carolina Tuition Grant or other assistance.

ROTC Scholarships

  • Up to full tuition and fees
  • Monthly stipend during the academic year

Available to selected students for up to four years. ROTC scholarships may not be combined with other Furman scholarships. Please contact the ROTC Department at 864-294-2047 for scholarship deadline dates.

South Carolina LIFE

  • $5,000

Academic scholarships for South Carolina residents who meet two of the following criteria: a B (3.00) grade point average, rank in the top 30 percent of their graduating class, and 1100 score on the SAT (or ACT composite score of 24). No application required.

South Carolina Hope Scholarship

  • $2,800

One-year, academic scholarships for South Carolina residents with a B (3.00) grade point average who do not qualify for a LIFE or Palmetto Fellows award. No application required.
