Furman Academics

Educating the whole person

There are many reasons to come to Furman. Small classes. Friendly students. A beautiful campus in the lively city of Greenville. But when you get right down to it, the most important reason must be our academics.

The omnipresence of the liberal artswhere a political science major may take a graphic design course to learn to confront issues from a visual perspectivewill transform you into a first-rate problem solver, one who thinks deeply, makes connections where others see only loose ends, and develops creative solutions to complex problems. You will learn to communicate with force and clarity. And you will be ready for leadership in any field or endeavor.

Simply put, our signature approach to the liberal arts prepares our students to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex world.

Majors and other fields of study

Furman offers degrees from more than 40 fields of study. Before declaring a major, you can take up to 70 credit hours in different subjects. Find out which major is the best fit for you.
