Rusty Copsey holds a BS in Finance and an MBA from the University of South Carolina. He has worked for Carolina First Bank, Regions Bank, and Wachovia Bank, and is currently Relationship Manager with the Credit Management Group at Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. He has taught as an adjunct instructor for Furman University’s Continuing Education division since 1998, and serves as well as a faculty member for the South Carolina Bankers School.
Dr. Copsey graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1986 with a B.S. degree in Finance and in 1990 with a MBA degree.
He worked at Carolina First Bank (now TD Bank) in various roles from 1990 – 2001. From 2001 – 2008, he was employed at Wachovia Bank N.A. in Greenville as a Risk Manager in the Community Bank Group. Daily activities included consulting with relationship managers and senior level management on debt structure and allocation; underwriting and approving new and renewal loan requests; monitoring existing relationships for credit quality and additional business opportunities; implementing and executing the relationship servicing plan; performing and analyzing projections and sensitivity analyses; and participating in business development calls.
Since 2009, Dr. Copsey has worked at Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. as a Relationship Manager in the Credit Management Group. Daily activities include consulting with business owners, partnership members, and company accountants associated with stressed loan relationships on debt structure and allocation; underwriting and approving new and renewal loan requests; continuously monitoring existing relationships for credit quality; implementing and executing the relationship servicing plan in conjunction with other internal bank personnel; performing and analyzing projections and sensitivity analyses; documenting all loans and facilitating the loan closing process in conjunction with bank legal counsel and borrower legal counsel; and participating in internal discussions with senior level management on existing customers.
He has been married since 1992 with two children: Megan (18) who is freshman at LSU and Allison (15) who is a sophomore at Greenville High School.
