David Johnson held senior management positions with AT&T and Lucent Technologies in the area of operations, sales, marketing and intellectual property licensing. He served as the first AT&T account manager in Tokyo establishing network systems sales operations in Japan and hiring Japanese sales and administrative staff.  As Vice President and Managing Director for AT&T Korea, Johnson managed market research and competitive intelligence growing the company's annual revenue.  In this capacity, he provided executive level customer interface with senior Korean and U.S. embassy officials. For Lucent Technologies, Johnson led a team of intellectual property senior managers and attorneys negotiating patent license agreements with U.S., Japanese and Korean based companies in the telecommunications and semiconductor areas.

Before starting at Furman in 2012, Dr. Johnson taught management, marketing, personal finance and international business courses at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in South Carolina.  As an adjunct instructor at University of South Carolina at Beaufort, he taught International Business, and at Webster University's MBA program, he taught Management and Strategy.
