Professor and Chair, Biology

Plyler Hall 132B

  • Current disciplinary research interests

My research is in the area of environmental physiology. In a broad context, I look at the interactive effects of human activity with stream functioning, though my recent research has focused on effects of land use / land cover on fish distribution, biodiversity, and how fish respond physiologically and biochemically to human-induced stressors.

  • Interest in connecting sustainability to research

My research is clearly within the framework of environmental sustainability, though it lends itself to collaborations within the social sciences as well. Because I focus on biological effects associated with human use of the environment, anyone that studied questions relating to those human uses, behaviors, etc. could be someone with whom I could collaborate.
