  • Interest in connecting sustainability to research

Sustainability lies at the core of my research interests. I am currently working on a manuscript that integrates political ecology with sustainability science towards a “new” sustainability science. I am interested in engaging with an array of scholars here at Furman to discuss the promises and pitfalls of these kinds of interdisciplinary integration that can contribute to a more robust sustainability science. I am also interested in integrating insights from political economy with ecological resilience theory. An opportunity to engage with ecologists and biologists as well as political scientists, economists, and sociologists here at Furman would be fascinating for this work.  In terms of my interests in environmental history, I am also interested in interacting more closely with both the history and political science faculty. My research is specifically focused on forestry, climate change, and fisheries resource management. The opportunity to meet and interact with those scholars here at Furman who are also interested in these issues is an exciting prospect.
