Who we are Shi Center

Founded in 2008 and housed in a LEED-certified Southern Living Showcase Home, the mission of the David E. Shi Center for Sustainability is to promote interdisciplinary research and teaching in support of sustainability on campus and in the greater community. To this end, we serve as an animating hub where students, educators and community leaders work together, exploring real-world sustainability challenges and generating scalable solutions.

Explore our site to learn about the Shi Center's key programs, partners, and research. Connect with us on social media. Visit the university sustainability site to learn about sustainability as it plays out across Furman's campus.

We work alongside many other entities and individuals who are advancing scholarship and sustainability locally and around the globe. Click below to see the partners for whom we're conducting applied research, and those who generously support our work.
