Our research
The Shi Center is consistently recognized as a leader in sustainability research. For that, we can thank our faculty. From science and policy to renewable and nonrenewable resources, our faculty perform a wide range of research to examine the most important issues in sustainability.
Sustainability research at Furman permeates through all disciplines. In
the hard sciences, students and faculty conduct ongoing research and
restoration projects such as monitoring the health of Furman Lake and
participating in intensive summer research in South Carolina. Ongoing sustainability
research initiatives include the River Basins Research Initiative,
conservation culture research, and the lake restoration project, among others. We support this
research through our faculty fellows program.
