Planning for Life Post-Graduation:  Graduate School

Students' choices during their undergraduate years will have an impact on what their options will be post-graduation.  There are several things that Psychology majors should keep in mind during their time at Furman so as to be better prepared for the futures that they want.

Any student considering graduate school must attend Graduate School Night.  Graduate School Night is a session held each fall and spring for all students who want to learn more about graduate school in psychology and related fields. These meetings cover essential information for students who want to know about any aspect of graduate school in psychology and the process of applying for admission.

If you are planning to attend graduate school immediately after graduating from Furman or have a vague notion that your future plans include graduate work in psychology or related fields, you must attend one of these meetings.Faculty members in the psychology department will not write letters of recommendation for students who have not attended Graduate School Night.  To find out when Graduate School Night will be, check our Calendar of Events!

The Faculty & Staff of Furman's Psychology Department are an invaluable resource to students.  Getting to know the various members of the faculty would be advantageous to any student, and so it is highly encouraged.

It is also highly recommended to speak with your academic advisor about research & internship opportunities.
