Stokes, Louise
I graduated from Furman in 1999. Right after I graduated I got married
to Ricky Duval on July 17, 1999. We dated all through college and got
engaged my junior year. This coming July we will have been married for
8 years. We are currently living in Lexington, SC and have been in our
house for 2 years this past August. Since we spent all the years of our
married life before that renting, it is nice to have our own place. We
don't have any children yet, but hopefully we will one day soon.
Right after I got married, we moved to Texas so I could go to graduate
school. I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in
2002 with 2 Master Degrees: Master of Arts in Marriage and Family
Counseling and Master of Arts in Christian Education. For almost 2
years after I graduated, I was unable to find a job in counseling and
spent about 2 years working in a Day Care. It was okay because I love
children and met some people I wouldn't have met otherwise, but it was
frustrating to be doing something I could do with a high school diploma
when I had 2 Master degrees. However, God eventually put me in my
current job. I am currently working at LRADAC (Lexington/Richland
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council). I work with a group of women who are
recovering from alcohol and drug dependencies and I also do some
individual counseling. I love the job and I love my clients. I have my
LPC/I right now (licensed professional counselor intern)and will be
fully licensed by June 2007. I also have my CACP (Certified Addiction
Counselor in Process) I will by fully certified no later than February
2008. I am very proud of where I am right now and what I have been
learning since I started at LRADAC. Also, my church is starting a
counseling center and I hope to increase the number of clients I am
seeing there soon. |
