Participants in the Brussels Internship Program arrive in Brussels in late August. These participants are usually majors in Political Science, Communication Studies, History, Accounting, Asian Studies, Economics, French, and Business Administration, though all majors are accepted.
Each participant engages in an internship secured through Educational Programmes Abroad Inc. All students in the program will work approximately 25 hours, three days per week in an internship that best suits his or her interests. The hosts of these internships range from the European Parliament and think tanks, to advertising and public relation companies.
Furman students will also take four four-credit courses. Two courses will be taught by the Furman program director, and the two additional courses will be taken at Vesalius College. This program satisfies the department engaged learning requirement.
