Political Science
The Department of Political Science at Furman University offers students the opportunity to explore the real world of politics--local to global. We as faculty members make it our mission to challenge each student to observe keenly, think critically, and communicate effectively. We engage students in classrooms where together we examine philosophical texts or analyze the latest election surveys. But we also take learning "on the road" to Washington, D.C., Brussels, and San Salvador where we observe and experience politics in action. Excellent teaching at Furman means great lectures, open discussions and close faculty-student relationships. In political science we also think it means exciting classroom simulations, quality internship programs and carefully-designed study abroad courses that invite students to learn through experience. Political Science at Furman is real world.
